💶Budget for a Bali Trip: If you’re doing Bali on the cheap you can spend as little as $27 a day for both food and accommodation. If you are a mid-range traveler, you can do it for $76/day and if you want a more luxurious experience you can do it for an average of $234/day.
💜Is it necessary to tip in Bali? Tipping etiquette in Bali is the same as in the US. You should tip if you feel the service is good and usually 10-15% is a good amount.
☀️ Best Time to Visit: The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season which usually runs from April to September. Avoid the rainy season from October to March.
Will I Solo Travel Again? The Good And The Bad
🏥Travel Insurance in Bali: I recommend SafetyWing as it will cover you in case of your trip cancellations or accidents during your travels.
Don’t underestimate how big Bali is! Traveling from one place to another can be difficult and takes a lot of time. Most of the places I visited took 2 hours to get to. For example, it took about 2 hours with traffic to drive from Canggu to Ubud. Traffic is a big problem and many people try to speed on scooters, which can be dangerous.
This is one of my frequent trips as a solo traveler here. It was easy to use because I could see the estimated price up front, no need to worry about finding private drivers or taking a metered taxi and the final cost. Also, there are many drivers who use these 2 ride-sharing apps.
It is also quite cheap to use. I spent a few Euros on short trips and only 10 Euros on rides for 2 hours! Private taxi drivers outside of the Grab and Go jek apps will be a bit more expensive.
Solo Female Travel — How To Plan 3 Days In Ho Chi Minh City?
Public transport in Bali is not very good and I never used it during my stay. There are buses to larger towns and a Kura-Kura public shuttle bus that operates five routes to Kuta, Seminyak and Ubud.
Bali is generally considered safe to travel alone whether you are a solo female traveler or not. I personally found Bali to be one of the safest places I’ve traveled solo. Balinese people are very kind and hospitable. Conde Nast even named Bali as one of the best destinations for solo travel in 2024.
However, this does not mean that Bali is free of crime and this happens in many places in the world if you are not smart or careful. Some common threats to be aware of in Indonesia, according to the US Embassy, include pickpocketing, alcohol abuse incidents and scams targeting tourists. Always be sure to check the latest government travel advice before travelling.
Bali is often called the “Island of the Gods” due to its strong culture of Hinduism and many temples and religious sites. They make beautiful daily offerings that you find on the ground every morning. The daily offerings are called “Canang Sari”. You will see small trays woven from palm leaves filled with things like flowers, rice, incense, and fruits. It is an ideal place for yoga and meditation. If you want to travel to heal yourself, there is no better way than a trip to Bali.
Best Solo Travel Destinations 2024
Plus, Bali is a great destination for solo travelers and backpackers as there is so much to do. There is a lot of nature and forests for mental escape and getting to know yourself better. That, after all, is one of the advantages of traveling alone.
Also, Bali attracts tons of young people and lots of digital nomads too so there is plenty of opportunity to meet people. There are many modern hostels built for meeting people. You can explore Indonesia very cheaply, so it won’t be a problem for those on a budget.
This means you can hire a private guide and go on many tours at an affordable price. You don’t have to worry about being alone if you join tours. I did a few during my time there and the guides in Bali are like no other. They are literally there to help you with anything you need. If you want amazing photos, they’re killer for that too.
Bali is built for Instagram! Bali guides are trained to take great pictures and videos, so you’ll never feel like you can’t get amazing pictures on your solo trip to Bali! I hired my guides through Getyourguide.com and they were all great! It was $45 for a full day custom tour and driver.
Hidden Spots In Southeast Asia That Should Be On Your Travel List
Many people say that Bali is not what they expected after seeing it on Instagram. Instagram only shows you the most beautiful pictures you see in the center with plants all around and extravagant villa pools. I fell in love with Bali because there are tons of Instagrammable places.
However, most of Bali is very rough looking, I don’t know if I like Bali because I heard this too. I’m also not a big beach person and didn’t know what to expect.
But let me tell you, I really loved Bali and had the most amazing month there. I miss it so much and hope to be back soon!
Especially in tourist areas, I feel like everyone I met knows English so you don’t have to stress about any kind of language barrier.

Whether you’re traveling alone or with others, it’s definitely worth getting travel insurance, I recommend SafetyWing as it covers you in the event of an accident or hospital visit. Although it may not happen, better safe than sorry!
The best time to visit Bali is during the dry season, which usually runs from April to September. During these months, the weather has many sunny days, low humidity and minimal rainfall. I personally visited in June and it was a great time to go.
May to August is considered tourist season. However, the shoulder months of April and September come with fewer crowds and still favorable weather.
It is advisable to avoid the rainy season from October to March when heavy rainfall can cause flooding and disrupt travel plans. You don’t want to be stuck in Bali during the wet season.

Bali is a place where you can spend endless time and never run out of amazing unique things that Bali has to offer. If you decide to spend 2 weeks in Bali, you can reach many of these best places to travel solo in Bali!
Canggu is all about beaches, surfing, cafes and cool times. This is probably the best place to go if you are a solo traveler looking to meet new friends. That’s where all the digital nomads are.
Apart from that, there are some fancy hostels where you can stay. I stayed in a private room at Roomates Canggu and it was one of the nicest hostels I’ve stayed at. They had a really cool pool outside and you could have breakfast floating in it. They also have various events so you can get to know other people in the hostel. One evening, we got to watch a movie outside on the deck chairs by the pool.

Ubud is where you go to experience the real Bali! This is where you’ll find all the Instagram hotspots – swings, flower spas, jungle tree houses and all the cute monkeys. I mean you will find these things all over Bali but Ubud is the quintessential stop.
Where to stay in Ubud: Umah Anila was very cheap and right next to the monkey forest.
Nusa Island is full of some of the most beautiful beaches in Bali. Many people go from Bali as a day trip just to see the West
