Ride the Sky Tram and Sky Trek Zip Line Down What sets this Monteverde zip line tour apart?
Ziplining Through Forest Canopies
Sky Trek is similar in some ways to other canopy tours in Costa Rica, but it has some important differences. Overall, this zip line tour is bigger than other canopy tours; it has more zip lines and platforms, longer trails, and a series of suspension bridges you can walk across. All this variety makes this Monteverde, Costa Rica zip line tour more of a playground in the sky. Adding to the fun? Assurance that the construction here is of the highest quality, using safe materials to ensure that you do not slip, trip, or fall.
Zip Line Canopy Tour
The Sky Trek zip line does not require any particular type of athletic ability. You only need to be able to sit down, stay calm, and focus your attention on the zip line you will travel down – guide and gravity do the rest.
If this is your first adventure vacation, don’t worry; we have “Answers to all your questions about adventure travel in Costa Rica.”
An extra benefit of this trip is the ride you will be able to take in the Sky Tram. Starting from the main facilities at a lower elevation, you will board the tram and enjoy a safe and scenic ride up the mountain. In total, the ride takes about 20 minutes and offers amazing views of the surrounding forest. Once at the top, you will climb a series of steps and meet with your guide.
Before you go down the zip lines, your guides will teach you the proper techniques, including how to hold on to the cable and how to position your body. They will make sure your gear is properly adjusted and help you launch from each platform. Unlike other zip lines in Costa Rica, you don’t have to worry about braking at this end. Your guides will use a pulley system to slowly reduce your speed as you approach the next platform.
The Most Extensive Zip Line Tour In Monteverde
Since your guides take care of starting and stopping you on each cable, you can relax and enjoy the ride. You are free to change the order of your group at any time during the tour, making it easy to move forward or leave behind the rest of your party. This allows you time and space to take photos and videos, or just catch your breath, and appreciate the beauty of Costa Rica’s flora and fauna from amazing heights.

Customer reviews We visited three very different parts of Costa Rica—Monteverde, Manuel Antonio, and Drake Bay. Tracy at Anywhere.com was wonderful! Very responsive, active, and helpful!
Customer reviews To celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary, we chose to visit Costa Rica. It was our first time visiting, but we fell in love with the place immediately. From Arenal, to Monteverde, to Manuel Antonio we would come back again! When you visit Santa Rosa and hear about a ziplining course that takes you through a redwood forest, you can’t help but do it, right? My wife and I took the 40 minute drive from our hotel in Santa Rosa on an early fall morning and arrived just in time for our 2.5 hour adventure on the classic course. It was a ton of fun and a top-notch organization. Here is all the information so you can do it yourself.
The travel area is located on Bohemian Highway in the town of Occidental. When you make a trip, they will send you directions because they recommend not using Google Maps.
After checking in for our tour in the parking lot, we waited for the van used to shuttle our group up to the tour area. When we get off the shuttle, they have a store, restrooms, and a lot of plates with information about the course and the forest. The rest of our group (7 people) arrived shortly after, with our guides Nick and Shainagot in our harnesses and gloves.
Extreme Canopy Adventure
There is a short practice post here that everyone has to go over. This 15-foot zip gets you used to breaking and what it’s like if you don’t quite make it to the end of the zip line as you head up the course. I appreciated this because it was an excellent way to get used to the feeling of the zip before being high in the air.
After loading up in another truck, we arrived at the top of the area where we started our course.
The first few zips are relatively short, and they make you familiar with the process you will take. This course has seven zippers, which get longer as you go.
The second and third zips take you to small platforms that are high off the ground, and that swing a little making them very scary if you don’t like heights.
Best Ziplines In New England
The fourth is the longest of the course, and you can’t even see the end from where you start; it is incredible. You go fast on this post, and it’s a total rush.
The zips continue like this until you get to the picture zip. This little zip takes your photo so you can pose like Amie did in the photo below.
From here, you will climb the hanging spiral staircase, which is a unique addition to the course.
Once you reach the top, you will start one of the two sky bridges. Both of these bridges are a lot of fun, and they both give you a rush as they bend and move when you walk on them.
This Eco Friendly Canopy Tour Lets Guests Walk Amongst The Trees In Shawnee National Forest
When you reach the end of the bridges, you will be at the last zip line, which leads you to the scariest part of the course, the rappel.
The booster comes from a platform about 60 feet in the air; it is an automatic reminder that works, so you just have to get on the edge, and it lowers you down. I found it to be nerve-racking as I approached him, then totally fine as I bowed down. Once you make it to the flat ground again, you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief and climb out of the high you feel from the course of the zip line.
All in all, this is a fantastic way to spend half an adventurous day in the Santa Rosa area, and I highly recommend you give it a try. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
