Rafting Through Rapids: Adrenaline Rush – The Middle Fork of the American River sits in a beautiful, rugged wilderness in the foothills of the Gold Country. It has a very remote feel despite being close to Sacramento and Lake Tahoe. There are several memorable rapids on this run, the first being the “Tunnel Chute”. This man made chutes and tunnels were created by miners during the Gold Rush era. The dynamite created the narrow chute with steep rock walls and the tunnel after. After you round the corner and get your first (and brief) glimpse of the “fall” all you see is white water with steep walls as you This leads to a huge 6 foot drop and then across a 90-foot long rock tunnel! All this just 2.5 miles from the put-in.
Many class 3-4 rapids follow this in the first 6 miles, including Last Chance, Submarine Hole and Kanaka. The pace is gentler for the next 7 miles, allowing time to appreciate the solitude and beauty of the lush, jungle canyon. Sierra mountain water is incredibly clean and clear from the snowpack on the back side of Squaw Valley and Alpine Meadows. You can get a glimpse of some wild-life and the river is host to rainbow and brown trout. We stop for a generous lunch by the river (surprised how good it is!). While your guide prepares the food, you will have time to swim and travel around.
Rafting Through Rapids: Adrenaline Rush
After lunch we re-launched and entered the Canyon Creek adrenaline rush in class 4 sent back to the Ruck-a-Chucky rapids. Upper Ruck-A-Chucky (AKA Chunder) is the first in this series. Next is the formidable Ruck-A-Chucky Falls which is a class 5-6 boulder slalom with a mandatory portage for patrons – sorry no amount of dollars can change that. We take you above the rapids and you can watch your brave and talented crew guide their boat down a 20′ drop in a rock wind. At the bottom of the rapid, your guide will bring the canoe back to you to return to Lower Ruck-a-Chucky (AKA Cleavage) Rapid which immediately follows and is a fun “surfing” spot. We made our way through a 2 mile gorge laced with many class 3-4 rapids like Parallel Parking and Catapult (AKA 101 Airborne). Pick up is at the Drivers Flat Road access point (formerly Greenwood Bridge) where our trucks are waiting. The gear is loaded, with some assistance from the guests and we head back up the hill to Crooked Lane.

Costa Rica Pacuare Rafting
Of course, we must start with the most obvious health benefits. Which will give you an adrenaline rush. Go through every turn of the river and fight through every rapid to boost your adrenaline. And this is necessary to enjoy a healthier, longer life. Therefore, the thrill of the adventure, or adrenaline rush, is the first health benefit on our list.
When people are tired from work or just tired in general, one way they can reduce their stress is to go outside. Now, studies show that being outside in the fresh air, and not confined to your office, is more beneficial to your mental health and stress levels than any indoor activity. Even the silence that nature brings is relaxing and helps you relieve your stress.
Now, most people know how physically challenging white water river rafting can be, but it’s much more than that. In fact, for river rafting, you are mainly using your upper body to paddle in the water, which tones your arms, back, shoulders and even strengthens your ability to think. Likewise, with regard to cardio, as a difficult activity that requires endurance, chevrons need to maintain long periods of paddling. That is, the chevrons are many of the best to ensure that they can complete the challenge successfully.
Almost every company in the world requires employees to work as a team. That said, going on a wild river adventure with your teammates is perfect for building deeper and more satisfying relationships with them. Regarding family bonding, it gives you a chance to learn more about their strengths and weaknesses, which helps each member of the family bond. And without modern distractions like smartphones or other technology, families can have more time to connect with each other while beating the rush.
